Baby's First Egg Paint

Since I was off on Good Friday, I thought it would be the perfect time to introduce "the tods" (as I call them) to the good old fashioned art of Easter egg painting. I had especially been looking forward to it this year, as Brady is finally old enough to understand it (to an extent), and he LOVES art projects. As I was boiling the eggs and preparing the paint cups, the anticipation was growing! I squared him away in a makeshift smock (a garbage bag with arm and head holes), and so it began...

"Ok Mom, what's the deal here?"

Surveying the scene...

"A crayon AND an egg?" Two of his favorite things at once!

Consulting with his co-counsel about what to do next.

Meanwhile, Little Miss was demanding "Egg! egg!" until a tantrum ensued. She got her wish!

Hmm. Wondering what to do now...

while Big Bro went to town decorating.

"There it goes!"

He kept saying "Ew! Yuck!"

In the meantime...

Brynnie figured out what to do with that egg...

and was enjoying a feast!

He REALLY wanted to use that little wire tool for something.

Admiring his work.

But ultimately he decided some eggs weren't quite colorful enough. They needed another dunk!

"Woooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww!"

"Kink!" (Pink!)

Safe to say he loved this project.

If I could only post one photo to describe this project, this is the one that would most accurately depict it!

I would've photoshopped away the runny nose, but that would've taken away from the authenticity of the photo.

Miss B ended with a cold one to wash down all the hard-boiled egg (and its shell) that she had been eating.
There were a few minor bumps (tantrums) along the way with this art project ("the tods" didn't quite understand why they had to wait for another batch of eggs to boil and cool, for example), but ultimately it was quite a success. Brady was very proud of his work and got the chance to show Gaga F., Gaga W., Pappy W. and Aunt Court his work when they came to visit. The smell was not so pleasant for a few days, but it was worth it!

Easter pictures week continues tomorrow with the trip to see the "Boo Bunny" (Blue Bunny, not sure why he was "Blue" but you'll have to ask them). I can promise a few laughs, for sure!
